Thanks to some great writing the film gives us many unforgettable dialogues such as “People stay together, not because they forget, but because they forgive each other”. If Love Story gave us “Love means never having to say that you are sorry”, Sanam Teri Kasam gives us “If you are sorry, then say you are sorry”. The fresh approach is what makes the movie so appealing. The movie is not a direct adaptation of the book, but rather inspired by the classic love story. I watched most of them, and they were all special and touching in their own way, but none as touching as Sanam Teri Kasam. In different stages of my life, I came across different adaptations of the novel, in different languages. To this day, I tear up every time I read the story, even though I know exactly how it ends.Ī love story that great was bound to have many movie adaptions, and it did. I don’t think I ever cried so much, while reading a book, before that, or ever since. I still remember the first time I read the book.
Though I love all kinds of books, my favorites have always been love stories, and the best love story ever written till date, is without a doubt Eric Segal’s “Love Story”.
